NuTone® p/n 39965000  IA400 Connector (Set of 2) for early IC401, IC401WH, IC401WHW, IS405D, IS405L, IS405WH, IS408D, IS408L, IS408WH, IS409, IS409WH Remote Stations.

Sometimes the cable is intact but the IA400 Connector is not making good contact. This had to do with an engineering error with the original solid conductor IW6R Ribbon Cable. It was later made using stranded conductors that properly allowed the IA400 (39665000) to knife through the insulation. The solution is to use the improved AMP 6-Pin Connector. If in doubt, replace the Connector on both the Remote Station and the Master Station Terminal Board.

The Connectors came with the Remote Stations, but you may have bought some returned merchandise or a used Remote Station and they are missing. Sometimes the Connector gets damaged during remodeling. Or, you may have construction damaged end of the IW6R Ribbon Cable and need to trim a few inches and install a fresh Connector. You may even want to get a pair of these, just in case you need them in the future. There's still quite a few IM4006 Radio-Cassette-Intercom Systems operating out there.  They had great sound, and are fairly easy to repair—they'll be with us for quite a while longer.

Note:  NuTone® later changed the circuit boards and the station cable to the later IMA4006 Radio-Cassette-Intercom Systems. Those use a more conventional "screw tie" method. The IA400 Connector is not used on this version. Some homes were built as the product was transitioning, and the installing dealers mixed in some of the early and later versions. Replacements with later Remote Stations also created a system with early and later versions mixed in with each other.
