An exceptional very well made mid century Lamson & Goodnow USA heavy duty meat cleaver. Excellent condition with blade stain patina, few impact marks on spine, rock solid and tight as it should be. This cleaver was well cared for and kept dry based on condition. Based on others I’ve seen believed to be circa 1940-1950s.

Established in Massachusetts in 1837, Lamson is the oldest cutlery manufacturer in the United States, their talented artisans still handcraft each piece in western Massachusetts—an extensive selection of elegantly functional products, including stamped and forged cutlery, kitchen tools and trade tools.

Very comfortable and well balanced hump back cleaver and at 1 lbs. it won't produce Popeye sized forearms!

The forged carbon steel blade is constructed full tang with solid Oak scales secured with three brass rivets.

Cleaver measures 11 7/8" inches long overall with a 7" inch blade. Blade is stamped Lamson & Goodnow Mfg. Co. Made in U.S., hanging hole on the end.

I have not cleaned in any way, in original found condition. Has a great edge on it. There is one tiny dot of white paint on handle and has one tiny crack where blade comes into handle on one side- see pics. In much better vintage condition than most I’ve seen.
