This is a unique and rare 1970 Latvian Dance Festival Stickpin, a valuable addition to any music memorabilia collection. The stickpin was created to commemorate the dziesmu un deju svētki, or the Latvian Song and Dance Festival.


The song and dance festival of Soviet Latvia (VI) dedicated to the centenary of Lenin VI and the thirtieth anniversary of the republic, or the XV General Latvian Song Festival, was held in Riga in 1970 . on July 11 - 20 in Mežaparka's Great Stage, at the same time the Dance Festival was held in the "Daugava" stadium.


The celebration was organized by the Central Republican Song Festival Commission. There were 12,700 singers in the choir, and 400 musicians in the combined symphony orchestra. The chief conductors were Stanislavs Broks , Jānis Dūmins , Haralds Mednis , Jānis Ozoliņš , Edgars Tons , Leonids Vīgners , Imants Cepītis , Daumants Gailis , Imants Kokars , Gido Kokars and Edgars Račevskis , and the Honorary Chief Conductor - Jēkabs Mediņš .


3000 dancers participated in the dance concerts. The chief dance leaders were Valentin Blinovs, Elga Drulle, Aleksandrs Lembergs, Vilis Ozols, Ingrīda Saulīte, Osvalda Strauss, Uldis Žagata, and the Honorary Chief Conductor was Milda Lasmane.
