Offered here is a very skillfully pencil-drawn mid-19th century landscape.  Perhaps it was a study for an engraving of the period.

The artist has signed the drawing F. Mason in the lower center below the image and has titled it "Ruins of Donore Church Near Drogheda".  I have been unable to determine who this artist may have been.  However, you can see the kinds of books that this image would have been drawn for by looking online at the 1842 edition of S.C. Hall, Ireland: Its Scenery, Character, Etc.  In fact, the Donore Church and Drogheda are discussed and pictured around pages 430-460 of that volume.

This drawing is on heavy card stock paper which, as you can see in the photos above, is watermarked Whatman 1840.  The photos also show the acidification from the wood along the bottom; however, there are no other significant stains.  The drawing is in the frame in which I bought it which, if not original to the drawing, is certainly correct for the period.  As you can see from the paper and tape residue on the reverse of the paper, the drawing was likely once in a scrapbook.  I inserted some acid free paper between the drawing and the wood backing to prevent further acidification.

This drawing is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off.  Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints, art and other items that I sell are not "reproductions".  For example, offered maps are of the period.  Please check my other listings for additional items of interest.  I will combine shipping.
