Mask of the Dogon ethnic group, from Mali. Among the Dogons, masks are mainly used during funeral ceremonies (dama). They will represent animals (mammals, birds, reptiles), Dogon characters (old man, Hogon, blacksmith...) or foreigners (Fulani, Saman, European...) and things (house upstairs... ) After use, the masks are kept in rock shelters near the villages. 

Significant traces of erosion and small age cracks. Unique piece.
