About the Artist:
Harry Ousey, born in Manchester in 1915 but spent most of his childhood in the Cheshire and Derbyshire Countryside. Ousey studied Architecture in 1930s London and started to paint the landscapes of Cornwall, Dorset, Scotland, and Provence around the same time.

In 1950, he and his wife Susie moved to St. Ives, where he was associated with several of the St. Ives School painters, including Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth, Peter Lanyon, and Wilhemina Barns-Graham. In the early 1970s, disillusioned with the commercial art world, Ousey and his wife travelled across France before settling in Aix-en-Provence where he continued to paint for his own enjoyment.
