Idyllic "Domestic Scene" by the well known English Realist William Strang (1859-1921) who exhibited in London and Paris.  The original etching is signed and dated in the plate.  It is in very good condition, printed on wove paper, and measure 6 3/4" x 9" within the plate marks.  The sheet is 10 3/8" x 15 5/8".  It is hinged to an older acid free mat (museum quality).

Strang was schooled by Legros and influenced by Rembrandt.  His masterly etchings show empathy and often a lingering touch of sadness.  Hind, the great historian of graphic arts counts Strang's etchings "among the noblest classics in the whole history of etching".
