Rudall Carte

FOR SALE: Rudall Carte Wooden Flute (modern pitch, closed hole)

This exceptional example of a Rudall Carte concert flute has a range of tone colours available, according to environment and desire. It can hold its own within an orchestra as well as having a distinctive solo character and has a strong and warm sound throughout its range.

The headjoint (Cocus wood) seems a particularly good example of Rudall Carte's craft and is in excellent condition.

The flute, which was made to play at A=440, has the serial number of 7932 and dates from January 1939. It was ordered by the customer but was not collected until after the war. The owner was a professional flautist with a London orchestra who owned the flute until 2003 when it was purchased by the current owner. Two owners since new.

It comes in a custom case made of Scottish ash wood, which is also protected by a padded transport case.

The flute has been cleaned and oiled. The pads are in excellent condition and have been checked to be airtight, i.e., each joint maintains a vacuum.
