1. Old belts are not used in conjunction with new belts.

Replacing one part and keeping the rest OEM will lead to uneven force between new and old belts, strongly impacting the performance and lifetime of both belts.

2. Ensure correct number of ribs are chosen as well as length.

If the number of ribs on the belt do not match the belt currently in your vehicle this could lead to failure of the belt and potential damage to the engine. If the incorrect length is chosen it may be too tight or too loose resulting in inevitable increased wear.

3. Have the belt installed by a qualified mechanic.

Having these parts installed correctly is necessary for the optimal function and performance of your belt. If installed incorrectly this could lead to faulting of the belt and potentially the engine itself also.

4. Your vehicle¡¯s engine and belts are properly maintained post-purchase

This is necessary in order to prevent oil and stain of the belts as well as protecting the engine from corrosive elements such as acids.

When parts such as the tension wheels begin to fail,they cause a chain reaction resulting in the related belt to fail. Even if a tooth is in disorder,the piston may hit the valve.In this case,the engine will suffer more damage and the cost of maintenance will be relatively large.This makes it much more cost effective to replace your timing belt along with other engine parts.
