The print offered here is a portrait engraving of John Caspar Lavater (1741-1801), a Swiss physician, poet and physiognomist.  His work is credited with leading to the widespread practice and art of making silhouettes.  The engraving, termed a "Caricature" below the image, is by the British printmaker, Richard Rhodes (1765-1838).

The print is in the British National Portrait Gallery, No. NPG D14227.

This print is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off.  Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints, art and other items that I sell are not "reproductions".  For example, offered maps are of the period.  Please check my other listings for additional items of interest.  I will combine shipping.
