I purchased this on ebay from in October. I have used it once on my M7. It works perfectly. I don't shoot that much film, so I have decided to sell it to someone who does. A little history of the Leica Motor M...Introduced in 2000, the Leica Motor M drive is a nice way to make compatible Leica film M cameras a bit more modern with automatic film forwarding when you shoot, no more cranking!
To my knowledge, compatible Leica film M cameras are the MD-2, M4-2, M4-P, M6, M6-TTL, M7 & the MP. Of all the Leica motor winders, it has the smallest profile and feels better integrated into the body. The bottom plate barely elevates the profile making it look like a slightly thicker version of the Leica Handgrip which also allows better positioning for vertical photos.
It takes 2 x 123A lithium batteries that last about 100 rolls of film, they fit into the grip and are loaded through the bottom.
The Motor M is quieter than previous Leica motor drives and has three selectable modes; Off / 1.5 FPS / 3 FPS and it is the newest (last) model of motor winders Leica made. If you shoot a lot of film, no doubt you will find situations where a motor drive will be useful.
