Japanese Old Ceramic Sake Bottle Kayoi Tokkuri 11" (27cm)  Vintage Pre-WWII TK01

Description

This tokkuri is a type called a "Binbo Tokkuri (poor man's tokkuri)" or "Kayoi Tokkuri (commuter tokkuri)," which was used in Japan from the mid-19th century to before World War II.
At that time, sake was not sold in disposable bottles or paper packs like it is today, and people would bring this tokkuri to the liquor store, pour the sake from the barrel into it, and take it home. It's like a reusable bottle, if you will.
The tokkuri has what appears to be the name and address of the liquor store where it was sold written on it.
Although there are no chips or cracks, there is some wear and tear as it was actually used.
It's also recommended as a flower vase.
Condition: Excellent condition. No chips or cracks. Please see the photos for details.
Height: 11" (27 cm)
Bottom dia: 4" (11 cm)
