This is an antique primitive papier-mâché or wood pulp washbasin or bucket.

I am uncertain as to exactly how old it is, but it definitely has very good age. I would think it’s at least from the early 20th century.

The overall piece measures 7 1/4 inches tall (18.4 cm). The bucket itself measures 16 5/8 inches wide x 13 7/8 inches long (42.2 cm x 35.2 cm). It is 17 1/2 inches wide with the handles (44.4 cm).

The piece has a great overall primitive look about it.

It is marked on the bottom ADT, but I can’t quite make out the rest of it. I am sensing it is French though. I feel like I have seen other pieces made of similar material.

There are numerous little chips on it, but they are mostly going around the top and the bottom. It’s a very sturdy piece. On one of the handles, there is a rusted off piece of metal, though it looks like this happened many years ago as it still feels very solid and sturdy. The handle itself is holding on well. The interior is discolored, but it still has a great looking color to it. There is a large scratch and spotted dark spots on the bottom, but these do not affect it at all. There is other general age related wear to the surface. Personally, I think all of the wear to it tends to just blend in with its overall look.

It weighs a little over 3 lbs. 6 oz. (1.538 kg).
