The print offered here comes from an 1820s edition of Giulio Ferrario's "Il costume antico e moderno o Storia del governo, della milizia, della religione, delle arti, scienze ed usanze di tutti i popoli antichi e moderni provata coi monumenti dell'antichité e rappresentata cogli analoghi disegni dal Dottore Giulio Ferrario".

The print is an aquatint after a painting by Gallo Gallina.  It is a fascinating image of one of the most well-known sites in modern Barcelona, Las Ramblas.  Anyone who has been to Barcelona will have strolled down Las Ramblas, which is nearly always crowded with both locals and tourists.  This image depicts the residents of Barcelona in the 1820s doing the promenade in all of their costume finery.

Below the image and along the plate mark, there is a pencilled title in what appears to be script contemporary with the etching itself (ie, the 1820s), that reads "Promenade de Barcelone".  The colors in the image are lovely and bright.  This is a proof print before letters/titles were added.

This print is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off.  Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints, art and other items that I sell are not "reproductions".  Please check my other listings for additional items of interest.  I will combine shipping.
