Isaac Robert Cruikshank, also known as Robert Cruikshank, (1789-1856) was the older brother (by two years) of the British caricaturist, George Cruikshank. Robert was quite well known in his own right and has left a significant legacy in the form of interesting aquatints such as that offered here.
The complete title of this aquatint is "The Point of Honor Decided, or the Leaden argument of a Love affair." The print shows the final moments of a duel with pistols in which one of the participants receives a bullet and begins to fall backward. Under the image to the left is printed "Drawn & Engraved by Robt Cruikshank"; to the right is the publication line: "Pubd by Sherwood, Jones & Co April 2, 1825".
This print is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off. Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints and art that I sell are not "reproductions". Please check my other listings for additional items of interest. I will combine shipping.
