The book offered here is an original mid-19th century book by a physician-author who was well-known at the time for his series of medical textbooks, Thomas S. Lambert.
The book is profusely illustrated with 5 colorful lithographic plates as well as many wood engravings.
I believe that it is a first edition, having been printed in 1851 with pages of advertisements at the front.
The book is stamped by an early owner, H. C. Williams. Williams was apparently a student in a medical class and carried on an extensive pencil-written conversation with another student on a few of the free blank papers at the front and back of the book. He did not, however, write on or markup the pages of text or the illustrations.
