The lot of two (2) engravings offered here are part of a mythology series created by the renowned Italian printmaker, Giovanni Girolamo Frezza (1671-1748?) after the Italian artist Francesco Albani (1578-1660).

The dramatic images are of Mercury and Venus and are both dated 1704 in the lower right hand corner.

There is an example of the Mercury engraving online, with image, in the British Museum collection at No. 1866,1208.301.  The series are also in the collections of the Rijksmuseum and the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The dimensions are:  Venus height 14 1/4 inches (platemark), 15 1/4 inches sheet; width 11 inches (platemark), 12 1/4 inches (sheet)
Mercury height 14 1/4 inches (platemark), 17 inches (sheet); width 11 inches (platemark), 13 inches (sheet).

These prints are from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off.  Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints, art and other items that I sell are not "reproductions".  For example, offered maps are of the period.  Please check my other listings for additional items of interest.  I will combine shipping.
