This sale is for a VICTORIAN hardback edition entitled “Peril and Adventure by Land and Sea,” selected and edited by Mrs. Valentine – Laura Valentine (1814-1899) with 3 fine engraved full-page illustrations, including a frontispiece and with decorated endpapers.

 

It was published by Frederick Warne and Co., of London, and is undated but is late Victorian, circa 1890’s.  Laura Valentine was a chief editor for this publisher; several of her books for children she simply wrote under the pseudonyms “Aunt Louisa” or “Mrs. S. Valentine”)

The book measures 7.5 inches x 5.25 inches and has 224 pages + illustrations. 

 

The book is in good, neat condition for its age, with wear/scuffs and is a little grubby/faded to the original decorative cloth hardback cover, with previous owner inscriptions/markings at the front, the odd creased corner/blemish, and no other ink or pencil markings in the book. The binding is good with no loose or missing pages.  There is no dust-jacket.

Unwinsbooks always obtain a proof of postage receipt from the Royal Mail.  Packages over Royal Mail size rules may be sent by courier (customer will be informed).
