The Consumer Credit Protection Act of 1968 (CCPA) protects consumers from banks, lenders and credit card companies by mandating disclosure requirements and banning misleading advertising practices while protecting borrowers from discrimination. Lenders must make terms of loads transparent to all borrowers and use terminology that is easy for customers to understand. The collection and sharing of a consumer's credit and borrowing history are also regulated. A long history of legislation and amendments has expanded the CCPA and this is included in this edition as of January 2024.
