This is a clean and relatively rare New Old Stock example of a Gulco Poweray 255 red bead reflector for road bikes, made by the (Charles) Gulotta Division of Bright Star Industries in the 1950s and early 1960s. Reflector area is 2 1/8" in diameter on an aluminum backing plate. This is similar to the Gulco Honeycomb Jewel 218 reflector (see my other listings for some examples), but this has what the manufacturer described in their catalog as "a cluster of molded semi-spherical magnifiers for high reflectivity." This design predated the later reflex reflector designs that took over beginning in the 1960s.
This reflector is in clean New Old Stock condition, showing a little shelf wear on the backing but nothing obvious. The backing has been polished and waxed, and the mounting is secure.
This listing includes:
Red Gulco Poweray 255 reflector: 2 1/8" diameter with red lens and 19 semi-spherical magnifier beads on an aluminum backing
10-24 mounting nut and lock washer (see Photo 2)
