A truly massive, framed, glazed and imposing sculptural work of art measuring some 49½” x 42”, the frame being some 5½” thick (from glass to the outer edge). Condition is very good with just the odd minor mark here and there on the frame edge.

Apologies for the rubbish photography, the glass reflecting the outline of the cameraman and the trees behind as can be seen in the second pic which does not do the item justice. The close-up pics reveal the true quality of the work on the 19½” x 12” panel and the detailing of the Romanesque scene. It appears to be composed of a pinkish red clay and has been hand decorated with much applied detail.

It is dated '95' and signed either 'R. or K. Botha'. Unfortunately, I have been unable to identify the artist but recall being told he was South African. It is clearly the work of a very talented person. On account of its great size I am unable to post!! So, have marked it as “collection only” but happy to drive jup to 60 miles to meet with purchaser to save on their fuel costs. A very, very imposing piece of artwork and not the sort of thing you see everyday! I bought it around 2002 from an Antiques Fair when I retired and it was quite expensive (£350) and completely filled the back of the car! I offer it here at half price as we are downsizing ready for another house move and are too old to lug it around.
