Antique Danish Skonvirke Silver Brooch by Eiler & Marloe c.1930

This is a fine quality Danish silver bar brooch by the respected and highly collected makers, Eiler & Marloe.

The piece is made in solid 830 grade silver, with the pattern number of 226 stamped onto the closed back.
It also carries the mark E&M plus the company logo of Eiler & Marloe.

The brooch has both an Art Deco style and ‘Skonvirke’, which is the Danish equivalent of Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts (and translates as ‘beautiful work’).
There’s a geometric feel to the bar element of the brooch, but a more organic freeform feel to the central tablet, which has a leaf like motif with stylised berries.

To the back is a good quality tube hinge and C clasp mechanism.

The whole piece is of good quality, with a solid rather than hollow construction, giving the brooch a weighty feel for its size.

The item measures 7.5cm cm in length, and is 1.5cm at its widest point - the weight is 8.5g.

The condition all round is very good - no splits, dents or repairs to report, and the clasp to the reverse works exactly as it should.
Good colour and patina to the silver, commensurate with being enjoyed for for over 90 years.

P&P to U.K. addresses is £6.95 (special delivery), with shipping to international addresses being handled by the Global Shipping Program (prices will vary depending on your location).
