NORFOLK ISLAND POST OFFICE COUNTER PRINTED IMPERFORATE MACHINE LABELS

These four counter labels are from the SECOND SERIES issued by Norfolk Post. They are gummed and unperforated, and printed by a computerized machine, for use on parcel post packages. 

OTHER VALUES THAN THESE 4 MAY EXIST, PRINTED FOR DIFFERENT WEIGHTS & DESTINATIONS.

The only previous Norfolk Island Post Office counter label was issued in 1997. The design had TWO "Norfolk Post" logos in the top left and bottom left corners of the rectangle, and other permutations are known with three labels. 

The new design (2nd series) - issued 9 September 2001 - has a stylised Boobook Owl in place of the upper left "Norfolk Post" original label.

ONLY New Issue Standing Order Subscribers had these imperforate P.O. labels included in their orders on request. These $1.40, $1.90, $2.50, and $3.00 labels ON COVER or ON PIECE are RARE!

The "Boobook Owl" design also appears in outline on the barcoded printed side of each label. The change of design replaced the original 1997 Post Office counter labels, which had a faint outline of a Norfolk Pine on the printed (value) side.

NOTE: Just as with regular stamps purchased at a post office, e.g. in a booklet or from sheets, these counter labels could be used on mail or packages at any time.
