Vintage antique Seahorse cuff bracelet and dress fur clip set. C.1930s. French designer Jean Painlevé. Hallmarked Made in France. The beautiful brass cuff bracelet with 5 seahorses decorating bakelite or similar panels. The bracelet is approx. 2 1/4" inside across x just over 15/16" wide. The matching dress clip is 1 5/16" tall x just over 15/16" wide. look at photos for detail.

Jean Painlevé was widely celebrated for his films on marine life, particularly Seahorse, which prompted the creation of a brand of jewelry and fabrics in 1936 inspired by his work. This bracelet is from this famous Painlevé collection of jewels. He opened a store in the prestigious “Printemps” Department Store in Paris, named “HIPPOCAMPE”.

The two smaller pieces were at a time earring but have been damaged or retro fitted to not include the snap bag earring part. They came together so hopefully you can use them?
