The joystick should function as a single button joystick on most Atari 2600 compatible systems. We do sell a cheaper version for Atari 2600 systems and compatible systems if you don't need two unique fire buttons.

This joystick is NOT designed for the Atari 7800, we do make an identical in looks two button version for the Atari 7800 you can find that listing linked below along with our other joysticks for various systems. If you have any questions on compatibility with other systems, feel free to message us.
This joystick is also NOT designed for the Commodore Vic-20, Commodore 64, and the Commodore 64GS. We do offer a single fire joystick for the Atari 2600 that is compatible with the Vic-20, C64 and C64GS. We will be releasing a dual button joystick for these systems soon. Stay tuned.
