RARE 1938 Argus C F/S Switch Version 35mm Rangefinder Camera w/ Original Leather Case

This listing is for a 1938 Argus C F/S Switch Version 35mm Rangefinder Camera w/ Original Leather Case. This rare camera is all original and it works. This famous camera, the brick aka the spiderman camera, started out in 1938 by Argus to compete with the famous German Leica 35mm RF camera. Over the years over millions of the Argus C, C2, C3 cameras were made. This version of the camera represented the very first 1500-2000 made of these famous cameras. The rangefinder is not coupled with the lens (hence the C version), however the holy grail part is the fast / slow switch positioned below the shutter cocking knob. The camera up for sale is an authentic, all original with a serial number in the correct location behind the film spindle sprocket and the optics are great including viewers. The shutter cocks and trips. All speeds have not been tested, since this is sold as a collectible. Rangefinder is clear and accurate. Lens focus is solid with no slop. Inside the film area the camera is very clean with little sign of wear.

Amazingly historical camera with the original seldom seen case. Remember these cameras are made partially of bakelite, so how many remain today is unknown. This camera was stored in an ideal environment as evidenced by the nice leather covering, aluminum finish, clean optics and nice leather case for being 83 years old. An amazing find. Please see photos of the actual camera and case that you will receive for the best cosmetic description.
