In this oil painting, I find myself drawn to the majestic stag standing proudly atop a rugged hill under the blue, daylight sky. Its noble presence commands attention as the sunlight illuminates its form, highlighting the intricate detail of its muscular frame and regal antlers. Amidst the serene landscape, there's a sense of tranquility, yet an undercurrent of wildness persists, echoing the primal spirit of the stag and the untamed beauty of nature. As I admire the scene, the stag remains a silent sentinel against the backdrop of the endless blue sky, embodying ancient wisdom and resilience in the embrace of daylight.

I live near Lyme park (you might know it as Pemberley from the 1995 Pride and Prejudice) and they have a whole herd of deer who often roam past the boundaries into the land around me. I often come across thirty of them on my walks so though it was time to study them in more detail in a series of paintings.

This painting is framed without glass so that it can breathe. It is painted on Canvas mounted on MDF board with oils. I have my frames made to order by frames express, I then mount them myself to enable people the option of buying the work unframed and sorting it out themselves. The frames are often ordered when the painting sells so allow for a few days for the work to arrive.
