On offer is this wonderful Rare Early Dutch Silver Plated Embossed Tobacco Box.....from the end of the 18th / early 19th Century.

These boxes are often found in Brass or copper ..but very rarely with the silver plate still intact.......this box appears to have a brass base with a copper plaque to the top.............the brass sides are etched with floral details and the lid has a bucolic scene of peasants dancing.

Condition is good with the normal wear to the lid and the silver is rubbed enough to be able to see the copper showing through.and the same on the brass sides.........however the photos appear to show more loss of silver than there is in actuality..

This is a heavy gauge box and of good quality...it would have been an expensive piece in its time.

measures 16cms long by 5.5 cms wide by 3.5 cms tall.

The hinge still works and the lid seals tightly so this could still be used.
