Set of 6, vintage sterling silver Fruit or Cheese Knives with handles inlaid with bands of abalone. These lovely knives, made in Taxco, a place with a rich history of high quality, hand made, artisan designed silver jewelry in Mexico. Some artisans there expanded their craft to tableware (utensils, cups, pitchers, etc.), giving items hand hammered and finished designs as well as inlays of abalone, mother of pearl, onyx and other stone. These knives were a part of that small production. Each knife measures 7" long, 1/2" wide and are 5/16" thick. Stamped "925 RS Taxco" on each blade. The "RS" indicates the silversmith who made these pieces, however the listing of artisans in the Taxco registry is long and incomplete so his name is unfortunately not available. These knives are in very good condition, showing patina from age but very little wear from use. A striking set for a charcuterie platter or for serving fruit and cheese as a part of a multi-course dinner. Make a wonderful gift!
