MELCOMB MANOR: A Family Chronicle

by F. Scarlett Potter

A moving historical romance set in Medieval times, published in London in 1875. The book has merit of its own, but the real value lies in the six full-page color plates by celebrated author/illustrator Kate Greenaway. The novel was published early in Greenaway's career, and the title page bears no mention of the artist.

This hardcover first edition remains in very good shape. The covers are colorful and clean, with minor sunning to the spine and a little abrading to the corners and spine ends. The binding is beginning to weaken at the inner hinges, but the text remains firmly bound. The pages are somewhat toned with age but otherwise in excellent condition, minimal signs of use.

A nice collector's copy of a rare Greenaway title.

Measures 6.5" X 8.25", 148 pages, including the illustrations. Each plate includes a brief poem, corresponding to the novel's love story as it unfolds.
