Here we have a volume 5 of the latin language version of Livy’s history of rome from its founding 753bc to 9bce. Titus Livius wrote 140 or 142 “books”covering that time period, (only 35 or 45 remain known, at least until someone finds a few more somewhere), This is volume 5 of a 7 volume collection and covers Livy’s books 30 to 36 . This book is printed in London by Tonson and Watts. (They were the printers who first printed the beggars opera in 1728.)

This books binding is tight and beautiful, all the pages ate complete, some tanning throughout, no big splotches of foxing marks , see photos. The cover shows wear along edges, some minor separations along edges. Front cover has some discoloring , maybe water stains, some wearing on cover surface, see photos. Corners are bumped and worn away , there is still a very little of the gilt on edges , both top and bottom and the numeral “5” on the spine.
