"The Anatomy of the Thimble" Reference Book by William H. Isbister If you
collect thimbles or just find them
interesting, you'll find a lot of useful information in this reference book
by William Isbister. The author analyzes the parts of a thimble,
rim, border (band), top and knurling and shows how these can
vary
by nationality, material and age. Hundreds of color photographs
include thimbles of glass, stone, steel, brass, silver, gold, enamel,
mother of pearl, bone, ivory, horn, tortoise, porcelain and plastic.
There's also a little section on finger guards. There's a lot of
manufacturing history and information that helps identify the
nationality of a thimble. Many hallmarks, trademarks and patent marks
are also covered. This booklet is soft cover, 75 pages and measures 8" by 10". It was published in 2015. This is a brand new copy and the ISBN # is 978-1-32-054628-7.
