Here we have a nice copy of a true classic of architecture publishing. Edward Shaw was a well-known author of style books in the mid to late 1800s. This book has a stamped cover with gold gilt highlight at center, ( im not certain of the material ) which has been nicely repaired to protect its integrity. See photos.

Book is large at 9 inches wide by 11 inches tall.

There is an additional repair to the spine , which cryptically has the name “Nicholas Tillinghast” who was the first principal of the Bridgewater Normal School and a well known educator, (maybe he was the one who did the repairs).

There are some notes written on the first few pages, mostly in fancy cursive dated 1859 name of william worden.

This book is complete , pages are rather nicely preserved, there are water stains clearly shown in photos, some on early pages at the bottom and some on the back pages near the top. Many of the pages are without stains, especially the plates.

There are 65 plates, displayed two by two facing each other, with a bound sheet of tracing type paper between each set.

All very nice, this is a nice reading book, feels great in the hands, because of the early repairs this book feels very solid.
