Rare Aesthetic Art Nouveau hinged gilt brass bangle bracelet, surface decorated in a cloisonne enamel pattern of turquoise flowers. Same repeat pattern on both sides. Early machine stamped but hand constructed multi-part form, European or American, ca.1900-20’s. I am guessing French.

Slightly oval shape. Inner diameter approx. 2-1/4”. Outer diameter approx. 2-3/4”. Tongue clasp closure with safety chain. Stamped on corner of tongue: MET.  (NOT Met. Museum of Art which signs its replicas MMA).

What I can’t figure out is the unevenly partially polished down background ( background loss on each half is different) around the flower pattern. Is it also glass enamel- if so why are there no abrasion polish scratches? Or is it antique crud from age? Except for one small edge area, the gilt surface of the background & bangle is in exceptionally good condition. See photos - my photos are an important part of my description. Any & all opinions on this mysterious piece are most welcome.
