CARRIED BY "OLYMPIC" FROM QUEENSTOWN TO NEW YORK

          -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHITE STAR LINE TRANS-ATLANTIC ROUTE: Southampton > Cherbourg > Queenstown > New York

"OLYMPIC" - on her regularly scheduled route - departed from New York at 3pm on Saturday 13 April 1912, and would have passed TITANIC in mid-ocean had it not been for the disaster that happened at 11.40pm on Sunday 14 April 1912. When OLYMPIC received the news by radio at 1am, she was already 500 miles east of TITANIC. Despite her position, she turned to go to TITANIC'c aid, but then realized she would have arrived too late to give any assistance to her stricken sister-ship, so she resumed her sombre journey to Southampton, which was reached at 7am on Sunday 21 April.
