1. This is a scarce barbotine majolica clock case in the impressionist style seen from 1860 to 1890.
  2. This piece is attributed to Theodore Lefront 1860-1888. It is unsigned by maker.
  3. Made in France.
  4. Massive size 17.5" Height x 11.25" wide across the front x 5.5" total side width. Very heavy weight.
  5. This piece is stunning! Features a bird on the top and flowers and foliage all around. The front of the clock is painted in a water scene with boats and landscape/lighthouse.
  6. This is signed by the artist E.N. (Unable to determine artists name at this time).
  7. Classic barbotine Fontainebleau slip glaze with rich, vibrant colors.
  8. This piece does have damage, especially to the bird. A portion of the beak as well as the tips of both wings are missing. There are various chipping areas on the clock.
  9. The flowers do have chipping as well. All damage is old, and the coloring of the pottery in the chipped areas does reflect that.
  10. Crazing in the glaze.
  11. Checked under UV for any old repairs, none were located.
  12. Regardless of damage, this piece is beautiful. It is a hand painted work of art. This piece could benefit from a professional restoration.
