Poplar is a tree species with many varieties, and in Japan, the Japanese poplar (Populus euphratica) and the doronoki (Populus doronokii) are close approximations.
Poplar is said to be relatively prone to burl (root mass) formation.
It is a lightweight wood with good workability, similar to alder.
The burl has a very intricate grain, but it is very difficult to work as a wood, and requires a high level of workmanship to finish it beautifully.
Since cracks and chips can be found in the wood, the large, conspicuous areas are filled with resin, a synthetic resin, to compensate for this hybrid wood processing.
In the SNAPPER-CTM, the back cavity style was changed to a pickguardless style instead of a top cavity style in order to maximize the poplar burl grain.
In addition, the dynamic grain can be enjoyed by laminating with the drop-top process, which requires advanced woodworking techniques, and by finishing with the new "Nebula Series" color, which maximizes the appeal of poplar burl.
