Rolf Gjedsted grew up in Vanløse and began drawing and writing at an early age. At the age of 13 he moved with his mother and stepfather to Vejle Idrætshøjskole, where the stepfather became the school principal. Here he was able to try various sports, including horse riding and martial arts, but at the same time he began to write poetry and paint.

He returned to the capital and attended the Sankt Annæ Gymnasium in a class with, among others, the actor Jesper Christensen and the musician Anders Koppel, played the guitar himself and was interested in new music, not least in The Doors, which he played in his role met as a musician and book reviewer in politics. Editor of the Atlantis series, which dealt with alchemy and occult themes for the publisher Thaning & Appel. In collaboration with Ingolf Gabold as a composer for Danmarks Radio, he wrote two choral works: “Written in Sand” and “Atlantis”.

Married and had a son, Daniel, but soon became a single father. Soon after, at the age of 21, he published his first book: Englefronten. Through a relationship with Anne Wivel, he came into contact with several visual artists at the academy that Anne attended, including Niels Reumert, with whom he created two lithographic works: “A Wall of Fishes” and “Journey to America.” In collaboration with the painter Wilhelm Freddie and Per Kirkeby, who designed several of his book covers...
