Original antique 1895 Pennsylvania Republican "Death to Hog Combine" rebus celluloid stud button.
This was an in party GOP struggle pitting Gov. Hastings and the Philadelphia "hog combine" against GOP party boss and Senator Matthew Quay.
We were able to find an example of this rebus on a ribbon but were unable to find another example on a button anywhere.
Top measures 0.64" (~5/8") in diameter.
Black painted steel stud back.
Rim and back appear unmarked.
Fresh out of a local estate. Excellent antique condition with light evidence of age and handling. Some light scratches on the front. Displays beautifully.
