A software mirror effect/book-match simulation is shown on the one face of the billet slab (the face with the LP single-cut body halves outline) for visual reference guide only, in order to get an approximation of what this billet slab would look like when the winning bidder cuts the individual shapes into two (2) billets, then set to book-match them with a bandsaw to yield two (2) book-matched, deep dish, carved top sets for 2 guitar projects. The one face shown with a simulated book-matching effect via software is an approximation of the figuring pattern and should result in a combination (median) of both when the winning bidder book-matches the middle of this billet. This is the “crown jewel” for an 8/4 eastern maple with densely populated tight curl from my figured eastern maple top collection as this is 13-1/4” wide plus and versatile as this could be a solid body slab blank OR re-sawn to yield two (2) one piece deep dish carved top blanks OR rip in half vertically to yield two (2) individual billets for two carved tops! IMHO this is exceptional and extraordinary as it has densely populated and consistent curl figuring concentration on both the wide face and both of the side edge…….

This particular auction listing is for one (1) slab only that is 8/4 (1.9375” thick). This is a versatile slab as it is 13-1/4” wide to 13-11/16” and 21-3/16” long and it can be used for this possible options listed below based on your customers needs and requirements:

1). This first option shows one face where there is a pencil outline of an LP single-cut to show a proposed one piece top (yield 2 carved tops when book-matched).

2). This second option shows the second back that has two (2) LP single cut-away halve in yin/yang or offset nested outline to yield two (2) separate billets. Each billet can be book-matched by the winning bidder; 2 individual billets = 2 book-matched deep dish carved tops.

3). This third option can be a solid body slab that could be drum sanded to thickness of 1-3/4”. This can be a single-cut or a double cut stratocaster* or any style of your design.

I don’t grade the figuring quality of my billet tops as it is very subjective, but this should easily grade in the “5A” camp because of the dense curl concentration and consistency through out that goes through the core of this 8/4 billet slab.

This eastern maple billet has good growth rings with highly figuring structure present on the 2 wide face and the 2 sides. You are looking at a “billet slab” from my own Private Reserve Collection, high veneer grade quality, Eastern Silverleaf Maple (acer saccharinum)!

Up or bid are for one (1) “DENSE RIPPLED FLAME” figuring, flat sawn/slab cut, sapwood, seasoned Eastern Maple (acer saccharinum) electric guitar luthier 8/4 slab billet! This raw dimensional billet slab will be book-matched by the winning bidder to net a deep dish/carved tops. This has has excellent natural chatoyance, beautiful “rippled flame” figuring, good growth rings with excellent tap tone! PLEASE review all photo’s and make sure the given dimensions will work for your design and project specifications prior to bidding!

Dimensions (approximate unit of measurements shown in inches):

21-3/16” long.

13-11/16” wide at one end and tapering to 13-1/4” at opposite end (20” length mark).

1.9375” thick.

Air dried-kiln dried/well seasoned (currently 7-8 percent moisture content). Flat sawn/slab sawn cut. Sapwood two face/2 side edge- cream to yellow color tone is from oxidation and surface patina from aging over time. Rough surfaced planed two face/rip line cut one side edge and very rough milled cut opposite side edge. Will require to be jointed planed so both face and 2 sides are flat and square prior to book-matching by the winning bidder. This raw blank will require additional drying time per your acceptable build specifications and will also need need proper acclimation to your shop prior to fabrication. Clear shellac/denatured alcohol mixed applied to the surface to help show color, grain and figure (if any).  Photographed with exterior natural lighting conditions.  Ends sealed with Anchor seal. Physical weight is approximately 10.90 pounds.
