Antique 1700s Javanese 2 Piece Gilt Silver & Diamond Sword Belt Buckle Set.


This collection of buckles comes from central Java, Indonesia. Buckles

such as these are associated with the kratons (courts) of

central Java, particularly Surakarta (Solo). They were part of court

dress for male courtiers and members of the nobility known as the

priyayi.


DETAILS: A matching set made of (tested) high grade sterling silver with beautiful ornate open metal work. Both pieces have a gilt gold inner rim each and is set set with small rough cut Borneo diamonds.


MEASUREMENTS:

The Timang measures 3 3/8 Inches x 2 5/8 inches, weight 61.54 grams.

The Lerep measures 3 2/8 x 1 5/8 inches, weight 50.67 grams.
