Here is a Lionel 6-8702 O Gauge Southern Crescent 4-6-4 Steam Locomotive & Tender #8702. The locomotive features Type III AC 6-wheel motor with Magnetraction, 3-position E-unit, smoke, a headlight, metal hand railing, metal wheels and axles. The streamlined tender has Sound of Steam, Symington Wayne plastic trucks, a fixed coupler, and metal wheels and axles.
Known as the Baltic in Europe and the Hudson in North America, the 4-6-4 was introduced in the early 20th century finding success in hauling freight and as a shunting model. Their use would initially find great success on North American railways before eventually becoming mainstays in rail-yards around the world.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. There is a bit of texture and pitting in the die-cast locomotive. It is difficult to see on camera. There are a few other light scratches and dirt residue on this model. The wheels & pickups show wear and light tarnish from previous use. This model is a bit dusty from previous wear or storage. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is included.
