ATH#230804
HAND-MADE HUNTING KNIFE
12” Long
Stone Washed Blade
just over 7” Long
Either polished bone or polished staghorn handle
the tang seems to be 2 ½” into the handle – which 2 ½” is wrapped in some
kind of material to hold it tight
The nice full-grain leather sheath is the give-away that this is not an
artifact
Both the knife and the sheath are in
MINT CONDITION
I’m sorry, but I cannot tell you where I got this (I would if I could
remember – it is not a secret or anything)
I have acquired a large collection of knives over the years – large even
for old cowboys – and at times I keep on collecting . . .
This is a very substantial knife.
The only spot that cold possible be corrosion, probably isn’t. Both sides of the blade when it meets the
handle – I think some “substance” was applied to kind of act as a glue for the
tang to fit into the handle. It's just too uniform on each side to be corrosion
– and it is nto the first spot that I would look for – where the knife comes in
contact with the leather (leather attracts a certain level of moisture) I would
expect to see some reaction – but I see none.
I’m an ex-Army, old cowboy, but I feel like a mountain man (or, dare I
say, some native hunter / warrior) when I grasp this knife and admire it.
I tip my hat to the craftsman that made this beauty.
Enjoy!
