Vintage Swedish Army M43 Winter Hat

The hook & loop fasteners which hold the ear flaps up & the rear gusset closed have rusted and been removed. This makes no significant difference. The ear flaps stay up fine by themselves and the rear gusset does not need be held shut. Otherwise, the hat is unworn new old stock in excellent condition.

Very nice quality 1940s vintage Swedish winter hat. The outer material is 100% worsted wool. The fur is sheepskin. The buttons that hold on the strap are real horn. The hat is too old for cheap synthetic fibres.

As well as the larger outer fur flaps the hat has smaller ear flaps tucked away inside pockets on the inside. These have felt on the inside so are nice and soft on the skin, and can be tied under the chin with the cotton tape attached to them.

The hat has a small wire stiffened peak that can be folded away inside the lining. The two press studs at the front allow the lining to be pulled away and the peak to be pulled down. With the peak down the press studs fasten together through holes at the back of the peak to hold it in place. I definitely recommend that you get your fingers on the metal of the studs when opening them to avoid tearing the fabric around them.
