Wool jerkin made from one of the Swedish M58 field tunics I'm selling here: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/335183855261. Rear pockets have been removed and a half belt added. The half belt buttons on so the jerkin can be worn with or without it and is small so makes the jerkin a snug fit with it attached- it reduces the waist from about 35" to 30". You won't be able to wear much more than a shirt or thinnish jumper with the half belt attached but it should enable you to wear it beneath a jacket. The snug fit, of course, improves warmth.

The original plastic buttons have been replaced with genuine (and expensive) buffalo horn buttons. These are made from horns naturally shed by the buffalo so no harm done to the animals.

It's made from an excellent quality heavy worsted wool fabric and part lined with cotton twill, has a high collar, two hip pockets, a pleated back and a fold down fishtail tucked into the back. This can be pulled between the legs and buttoned to the front to stop the jacket  being turned inside out by high winds (such as when jumping out of a plane.) Great quality rustic jacket for the winter.

Approximate measurements:

20" armpit to armpit
17" shoulder to shoulder
17" upper body length from the base of the collar to the half-belt
27" total body length from the base of the collar to the hem. 1" longer at the front
15" / 17.5" Across the waist with/ without half-belt
