This is a super sweet, most likely antique, mahjong set with smaller than average tiles in a small case. The 144 Cattle bone/bamboo tiles measure 31/32 x 11/16 x 1/2 with 50% bone. They are in superb condition with no chips or cracks that I have found. Both fronts and backs are clean and bright. The paint is crisp with no fading. It's possible these tiles were never played. There is a full set of bone sticks, a lovely ming jar, and dice.
The case is highly polished and sturdy. The drawers push out from holes in the back instead of pulls. The pull up door fits snugly. The brass pieces and elaborate handle are in excellent condition with no corrosion. There were originally two handles but one is missing. The case measures 7-7/8 x 5 x 5.5. Altogether this is a beautiful set. It is rare that sets this old are in such excellent condition.
