This is an early pine salt box with lid.  It is in very good condition.  The bottom of the box has the word Charles and some numbers but I can't read the rest.  There is still some salt at the bottom of the box.  No fancy scrolling or paint, this unassuming box served its utilitarian purpose.  It's a wonderful antique salt box!
