Lamy has a long history but started in 1965 with the production of design pens. The Lamy 2000 of 1966 , a revolutionary pen in its time, designed by Gerd Müller, was an immediate success and is produced until today. The pen was originally made from macrolon, later came a stainless steel version. The limited edition  to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the brand received the name Black Amber. Back Amber is a kind of petrified wood with a grey-black luster. The pen is of course not made from this material but has a coating which has a comparable luster varying with the incidence of light. If you see a stainless steel and a Black  Amber beside each other, the beauty of the Black Amber is stunning.
