1963: Item #64127. The Beatles' second single, "Please Please Me", reached #2 on the UK singles charts. They recorded their first album (Please Please Me) in a single session, and it reached #1 on the UK charts that March. Their cheeky attitude and several UK tours prompted the start of Beatlemania, which led to screaming fans and police protection. The sequel album, Meet the Beatles, released in late November, just ahead of "I Want to Hold Your Hand". In December of 1963, the Beatles were first heard on American airwaves. This mini box features a photo of the Beatles in orange suits, with Ringo seated in a chair.
