An original, antique, copper-engraved strip road map by John Senex published in London by John Bowles in 1757. This route map was published in Senex’s ‘The Roads through England delineated or Ogilby’s Survey, Revised, Improved and Reduced to a Size portable for the Pocket’, and as the title suggests this is a much smaller version of the road map John Ogilby published in 1675 in his ‘Britannia’.

The sheet measures approximately 230mm x 180mm and is printed on both sides with the detail of the larger towns and/or cities identified in the plates (one plate on each side of the sheet) as follows:

Plate 75 - Exeter, Crediton, Barnstaple, Biddiford. Numerous other settlements are identified and some topographical features are included.

Plate 74 - Mahunleh, Ruthyn, Holywell. Numerous other settlements are identified and some topographical features are included.

Condition report: Good condition, some age toning as is to be expected, old binding holes just visible at the extreme right edge of the sheet (plate 75) well away from the printed area. Overall, this is a very nice example. See photographs.
